Cal transfer portal commit: Braden Miller, Michigan State offensive tackle
The Bears keep it in the family and add depth to their offensive line.
Cal wanted depth on their offensive line from the spring transfer portal cycle, and they seem to have got it with the commitment of Braden Miller.
Miller appeared in three games as a redshirt freshman at Michigan State in 2023. Miller is the brother of former Cal offensive tackle (and transfer portal commit as well, from Stanford) Barrett Miller. You have to imagine Barrett’s positive experience with Cal offensive coordinator and O-line coach Mike Bloesch had to be a factor in his eventual decision to be a Golden Bear.
Cal has a few offensive tackle options in Nick Morrow, T.J. Session, Victor Stoffel, and Ender Aguilar. Morrow had an outstanding spring camp, Session has been starting for most of the last two seasons, and Stoffel has transferred in to compete, so there will be a lot of stiff competition to get into the starting rotation, but the two-deep is certainly a strong possibility. Given Session and Stoffel will be out of eligibility after this year, Miller will be in a great place to be a starter by 2025, if not earlier.
Welcome to Cal Braden! Go Bears!
O linemen commits are more exciting to me than RBs or WRs.
