We have one win each in the SEC, Pac-12, Mountain West, and ACC.

Last week we had a double-digit win that wasn't. This week, a 1-score loss that wasn't.

I wonder what Knowlton is thinking right now. Those payments for the Stadium renovation are looming large. And they can't sell it, becuase who would buy it? You can't do evening concerts there.

Hes thinking how he can spin another win against Stanford into a successful year.

Expand full comment
Rugbear's avatar

No, he's thinking about how he fills the stadium and sells merchandise to pay the bills. So are our rich alums. It's time for a change and our financial situation is going to push us to be all in. That's the one thing about losing that maybe the blessing in disguise.

Beat Furd? I hope do, but none of my money would go on the Bears after the second quarter’s performance today.

There's only one way to come back from the game and what we do is to run the clock down...

Lmfao imagine being down 2 TDs with 2 minutes left and casually playing out of the huddle only to get sacked anyway. Absolute disaster.

Such a poorly coached ballclub.

There’s actually a path to finishing LAST in the ACC this year,

This turned out opposite of what I hoped in a post. I thought Scuse would have 17 not the Bears

Wilcox literally hasn’t improved the program at all in almost 10 years. Same exact tier of shit sandwich he inherited

Expand full comment
abqbear's avatar

I'd argue it's worse. The first couple years at least had the suffocating defense

Expand full comment
Rugbear's avatar

DeRuyter

Expand full comment
Rugbear's avatar

Like Wilcox, Sirmon is a man of great character, but he is entirely predictable. His defense is always about probable statistical outcome. You know in any situation what he is going to do, even if he dials up different coverages. So you change it up. Not hard to call plays against that.

Expand full comment
Jay's avatar

I guess he sucks a little more agreeably than Dykes but that’s about it

Expand full comment
mrjpark's avatar

Not even. Dykes at least gave us hope that we could score consistently.

Expand full comment
Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Agreed.

Wilcox is way worse imo.

I mean personality-wise, I don’t like anything about him whatsoever from a pure football perspective but he does seem like a nice enough guy

I left the house and came back to restart the game late in First quarter. Suffered through it till middle of the Third quarter. Then I clicked it off and checked the score just now.

#&$#@+-%$! But not surprising. How many more seasons of this crap do I have to endure.

No more “what ifs” about this season. We are not a good football team.

Expand full comment
HelloBowlesHall's avatar

If we were in last years pac-12 we’d have a worse record and the losses wouldn’t have been close.

Expand full comment
abqbear's avatar

I was thinking the same. This team in the Pac 12 north would struggle to win 4 games.

Expand full comment
sacman701's avatar

We should be 7-3, but yeah, we aren't good. The best team we've beaten is still Auburn, who isn't good.

Archon79's avatar

We found out what the team looks like when Mendoza isn’t on point and its not good.

Expand full comment
sacman701's avatar

The defense in the first half was also shambolic.

Expand full comment
HelloBowlesHall's avatar

He’s bailed us out all year on offense. As he goes the offense goes.

Expand full comment
Old Bear 71's avatar

Totally exposed after a 3-0 start.

Expand full comment
Rugbear's avatar

Jeez, it's not about Mendoza! It's about giving him the time to throw the ball. It's about designing plays to get receivers open. Our O-line and OC let us down today. Mendoza is fine.

Expand full comment
HelloBowlesHall's avatar

Mendoza has been able to paper over the line issues somewhat by getting it out so fast. When he’s off then…this…

Expand full comment
Mark Sigmon's avatar

Might also be a matter of DB's playing very close knowing that Mendoza will never get enough time to throw it deep.

Expand full comment
Old Bear 71's avatar

No! We need an up and coming Coordinator who brings the discipline and enthusiasm of a Sanders.

Expand full comment
Rugbear's avatar

No. He runs a pro style offense. You can't run that in college any more and expect to win. Ask Bill Musgrave. We need a spread/air raid coach. Easy to teach, opens up the game.

Expand full comment
sacman701's avatar

Agree, we don't have the OL development to run a pro style offense.

Expand full comment
OldSoCalBear's avatar

he's a god fit for the defense, no reason he can't bring in a spread guy for the O

Expand full comment
Rugbear's avatar

Now that's a great thought. But I'd still rather find a fiery younger guy like Coach Prime.

Expand full comment
natebear's avatar

fwiw riverboat ron is only 5 years older than primetime…62 and 57.

next CAL coach should be no older than 30…maybe 35. that’s how we will find a diamond in the rough that we can afford after wilcox buyout.

Expand full comment
Rugbear's avatar

I wish it was that easy. How much did UW pay Kaelen DeBoer? How much did Oregon pay Lanning. If we want to win, our future head coach needs to be a HC with a incredibly winning record at all levels name from a big program liek DeBoer...or an OC or DC from a program like Oregon, OSU, GA, TN, TX...

Expand full comment
HelloBowlesHall's avatar

We’ll have to go the coordinator route, we don’t have the money with our “anything to stay in a power conference” acc deal for anything splashy.
