Looks like it's sold out because the student store bought them all to re-sell.

rocksanddirt's avatar

seems hard to play basketball in those.....

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

I could definitely see this being discussed during the Wyking Jones era...

g.oso's avatar

Fuck no. I'd go back to being a USC fan if Cal were outfitted by Crocs.

Scootie's avatar

You'd go...BACK to being a USC fan? Do you have a childhood secret shame that you haven't shared here previously?

g.oso's avatar

No shame. I was a Cal transfer student at the age of 36. Prior to that, growing up in SoCal, as j.lee has pointed out, I was an avid USC fan and went to games growing up. One of my earliest CFB memories is watching Marcus Allen run all over UW in ā€˜81. And some of y’all may never know what it’s like to cheer your team in the Rose Bowl. But I do.

DC Trojan's avatar

This is all the more cold because the call is coming from inside the house

Terence's avatar

I was a UCLA basketball fan growing up.

Wiata78's avatar

I rooted for USC at the 1989 Rose Bowl against Michigan. Which suggests that the Cal jinx is transferable.

j.lee's avatar

i bet like most kids that grow up in socal and watched college football...you're likely to have been an sc fan growing up.

They are dumb and irresponsible with their barrel and trigger discipline. I mean, good god, they had the barrel pointed at each other several times.

These people show no signs of ever completing any formal firearms training, and yet they can own an assault rifle...

rocksanddirt's avatar

there is a very high probability that there will be a 911 call to that address for "i just shot my spouse, 'accidentally'."

j.lee's avatar

just saw a rant online of a white woman in korea complaining how she's a victim of systemic racism 'cause a 4 yr old literally said hi to her.

DC Trojan's avatar

If I were one of those Korean guys I would have been wildly insulted

(to be fair, this is in a subway station that's like 1000ft underground/there's like 3 more flights of stairs/escalators to go up to get to the surface)

j.lee's avatar

TV - What y'all watching?

Berkelium97's avatar

Dark (Season 3), which was released on Netflix this weekend. It's a great heavy, atmospheric sci-fi about a search for a missing child that goes completely off the rails.

Terence's avatar

Going to finally start Dave. I'm in season 3 of a Mad Men rewatch. Also Agents of Shield is having so much fun with their final season.

imalasmax's avatar

I watched the 2 seasons of Counterpart (like a spy thriller, but with alternate universes) over Memorial Day, but I guess that was a while ago...

rocksanddirt's avatar

was watching some Agents of Shield on the 'flix. as always some really good stuff, some not so good stuff, some batchit crazy stuff.

j.lee's avatar

Been watching 2 shows set in 1930s LA...

Perry Mason and Penny Dreadful - City of Angels...funny how 2 shows recently came out set in the same time period...

Cugel's avatar

Perry Mason is really good, watching I May Destroy You, which is good but disturbing, greatly enjoying Reply 1988 (15th ep) almost to the point where I don't notice the Korean weirdness, watching Clone Wars 2nd season.

j.lee's avatar

clone wars is a good series. those story lines should've been the movies...

and yeah, the entire reply series is good.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

ZeroZeroZero on Ammie Prime was quite good.

I do takeout from time to time but refuse to eat outside, just too risky IMHO. We've got to try to flatten the curve again, obviously.

heyalumnigo's avatar

We've done takeout quite a few times but haven't eaten outdoors. I don't think it's really worth it right now.

Berkelium97's avatar

Same. We do takeout maybe once per week, but I have no interest in in-person dining. Plus, the drinks are much cheaper at home.

AndyPanda's avatar

Ate out 1 time, on Fathers' Day, since this started. Getting take-out 1-2 times a week if you don't count occasionally grabbing a sausage McMuffin on a grocery store run.

TheBuckeyeBear's avatar

I agree.

It's incredibly frustrating that our government not only squandered the time that we bought (not making more masks/face shields, not making testing consistent, not implementing contact tracing, not shifting resources to help those whose livelihoods are threatened), the President is actively scoffing at the gravity of COVID-19, actively promoting a pandemic.

If the President publicly took this seriously, he could provide a lot more political cover for his supporters to do the right thing. Instead, it's some "Democratic hoax" and "Chinese flu."

sycasey's avatar

A good response to the pandemic required consistent messaging, coming from federal to state to local levels, and the top level simply was never going to have that with this crew. Sad!

AndyPanda's avatar

Being outdoors is generally safer than inside. The only thing that has kept us inside so much is it is a bad year for mosquitoes. I've BBQed and brought the stuff in to eat several times.

Scootie's avatar

I had a goal early on to do takeout once a week to support my local faves, but I have probably averaged once every three weeks instead. The best by far has been from Spruce.

GoldenSD81's avatar

Same. We do takeout about twice a week. I would like to do in-person dining again but now is not the time and I probably wouldn’t feel comfortable doing it again until spring of 2021.

Cugel's avatar

After a slow start, we've been doing it once a week, we always go and pick it up. So far A-16 has been the best we've gotten, I'd try Woodtavern, but they close so early (we eat at 8)

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

I do takeout somewhat routinely, but have eaten out just twice in a month, both down in San Diego. Coincidentally, both times were burgers, and both were disappointing, charred hockey-puck ones at that...such a dagger.

Incidentally, Newsome is advising but not mandating the re-shuttering of bars here in SB County, which is so NOT surprising given the fact that a majority of the bar-attending population responded to the re-opening like they were 19 & it was Spring Break Daytona Beach. Somewhere, Mr. Darwin is vigorously nodding and telling the person in the next barstool ā€œI f-ckn’ told you so.ā€

GoldenSD81's avatar

Where did you eat at in San Diego? I would like to avoid those places if possible.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Mira Mesa and Carmel Mountain Area...perhaps you and your family can all just stay in your house until Opening Day 2021 at Petco, GoldenSD!! I was skeptical on how this would work, but the two restaurants we went to were seemingly fine...masks were worn by all, everyone maintained social distancing, no menus were even used/handled, servers with PPE brought the food to the patio, and the tables were separated by at least 6 feet. Again, the worst part about the experience was the burger.

GoldenSD81's avatar

What was the name of the restaurants? My grandparents live in Carmel Valley do I go up there often. Me and the family live in Hillcrest, so we are just a nice walk down Park Avenue from Petco.

heyalumnigo's avatar

Thanks Chase Rice. Now No 2 may not be able to go back to Vandy in August as cases rise in 2 weeks.

DC Trojan's avatar

Also TIL that ā€œChase Riceā€ is a person not a brand of rice.

GoldenSD81's avatar

Seems like Covid enjoyed that concert.

DC Trojan's avatar

People are plainly getting *a* message, but which one?

Berkelium97's avatar

With three consecutive days of 40k+ new cases, we're in the worst stretch since this began. U-S-A! U-S-A!

DC Trojan's avatar

They said we couldn’t do it, but we’ve proved the haters wrong!

Cugel's avatar

So much winning...

Arlington County is doing really, really good. We'll see what happens when Virginia goes to Phase 3 starting Wednesday.

even if all he can is avoid a rush throw a 10 yard slant, he's got value to them.

Intangibles are there with Cam but his arm is shot and the ankle is beat up...Kaep might have more left in the tank. But of course the Pats get a former MVP for peanuts.

Under Armour may be seeking to end its contract with Cal (https://writeforcalifornia.com/p/rumor-under-armour-seeks-to-terminate)

Cal says "nuh uh, y'all can't terminate a contract that easily" (https://writeforcalifornia.com/p/cal-remains-committed-to-under-armour)

I wonder how long before the items on Fanatics go on clearance. I've been looking at a long sleeve performance shirt for a while. price keeps fluctuating but I'll pull the trigger if it goes below $30. Right now it's at 34.99 from fanatics.com. Although I just noticed that it's more expensive at shop.calbears.com which is just fanatics.com. I guess it's a different coupon code.

Cal Bears Under Armour 2018 Sideline Raid Performance Long Sleeve T-Shirt - Navy

Berkelium97's avatar

I'll be keeping my eye open for sales. I've been waiting for that same shirt to go on sale (or, at least, better than $35) so I can add it to my collection of exercise/biking shirts. Those polyester shirts breathe really well.

heyalumnigo's avatar

I'm waiting for the same thing. I have the short sleeve version of the long sleeve one I'm looking for that I got during a huge sale.

heyalumnigo's avatar

And it's 42 on shop.pac-12.com with a different coupon code. I guess I just need to find the best coupon code discount and apply it.

TheBuckeyeBear's avatar

Sometimes, if you leave something in your shopping cart for awhile and just leave the site, stores will send you a coupon a couple days later.

heyalumnigo's avatar

oh...let me try that. Good idea.

Obviously, not having the contract means we're flying blind -- but... lawyers of DBD, what's your take? What do you think UA is arguing that they are "paying for marketing benefits that we have not received for an extended time period" means? Does Force Majeure even count because the season hasn't been cancelled? I am curious as to how UA lawyers are going to argue that Cal has breached the contract in order to trigger a void clause. I mean, we're going to sue them plus damages because we'll need to find alternative equipment. And what about the Cal branding under UA. Cal owns those?
