Rytis Petraitis is a California Golden Bear
The Cal Bears have landed another major commit this weekend from Air Force.
Cal men’s basketball has found another significant contributor this weekend. Meet Rytis Petraitis, a forward transfer from Air Force, who picked the Golden Bears over the Texas Longhorns this weekend after making the visit last week. Petraitis joins Andrej Stojakovic as the two biggest commits of the transfer portal cycle.
Petraitis is definitely someone you can rely on to be a top-two contributor. He did a little bit of everything at Air Force in his sophomore season, averaging 15.7 points per game, 6.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.6 steals on 46.6% FG, 34.5% three point shooting splits. Those numbers scream offensive playmaker, and the 6-7, 210 pound forward looks as if he’ll be called upon to be a top option for Cal to put points on the board next year.
What a month it’s been for Mark Madsen. Most of the Cal roster had to be turned over with a new look, and he’s passed this very intensive test with flying colors.
Now, the new look California Golden Bears are deeper, have tons of defensive oriented players to upgrade our profile on that end, and now two potential offensive stars in Petraitis and Stojakovic, both with multiple years of eligibility. The Bears will be very compelling to watch in the 2024-25 season!
Welcome to Cal Rytis! Go Bears!
Oh my! Oh my! This is such long hoped for great news! I think I might faint.
Congratulations to everyone on the totally fabulous team which is being created before our wondering eyes. Magnificent !!!
Thank you, Coach Madsen, for demonstrating superior leadership in the face of adversity. Thank you, Cal, for continuing to be a place where you see possibilities for launching into the best life possible. Thank you, Avinash, for bird-dogging the changes and highlighting the opportunities and spelling it out for us fans who care deeply but are much less connected.
