Damonic Williams recommits to TCU after decommitting from Cal this afternoon, after recommiting to Cal after decommitting yesterday morning
What is going on
Defensive tackle Damonic Williams, one of Cal’s first commits in the 2022 class flipped back to TCU after he decommitted and recommitted to the Bears yesterday. Williams is already placed on the TCU roster, so this recruitment is done.
For those wanting a sequence of events of the wild last 36 hours.
Tuesday morning: Decommitted from Cal, TCU the favorite
Tuesday evening: Changed his mind back to Cal
Wednesday afternoon: Changed his mind, signs with TCU
One of the wildest Cal recruiting stories in some time, and a really tough beat for the Bears, who suffer another decommit this fall (Justyn Martin to UCLA, Kaleb Johnson to Iowa, and Jaydn Ott, who might decide on Cal today).
Regarding defensive line recruiting, Cal has signed letters from Nate Burrell and outstanding commitments with Curlee Thomas and Nunie Tuitele. So the Bears definitely have plenty of depth at the position.
Congrats to Sonny Dykes on another inexplicable loss for Cal.
Worth the decommit just to read that last line.
He may have just beaten out Jordan Payton for my favorite indecisive Cal commit.
