Great work by Tosh and team getting out in the community. This should definitely help local recruiting efforts!

Folks, Rivera reportedly interviewed with the Arizona Cardinals. Any thoughts there?

Well, he’d be crazy not to take that opportunity if it works out and he’s already completed the most important task he had at Cal, so……

I guess my question would be if we need someone to continue in that role and if so who would be a good fit?

I’m thinking football alum w NFL experience, strong connections, etc. Someone w coaching experience shows managerial chops.

Tony Gonzalez, DeSean Jackson, Alex Mack (realizing they don’t all have coaching experience, etc.).

Maybe if it's Tony Gonzalez he can also fundraise for basketball...

Thanks BT and MP for comments re Rivera. I would be very surprised if he’s offered the job. If so, I appreciate the feedback on alternatives/perspectives.

I think the assistant GM Marshall Cherrington will do just fine. He can look after the business stuff and we can also bring famous alums for events as we need. Ron will be back after a few years. But the biggest blow would be Ron's role as a mentor for first year HC Tosh. That cannot be replaced.

With all that being said, I don't think Ron is getting the Cardinals job.

Why is this not being discussed with more vigor? Seems odd. This is the ostensible head of the football program mulling an exit. Seems notable.

Because no one thinks he will get the job

When recruiting is done well, it's one of the most exciting parts of college football for me. This makes me so happy! Go bears!

No substitute for this type of recruitment work.

Not sure if this makes any sense but I am humbled by their non-stop efforts. I guess I’m just not used to this being how it’s done?

Great work, Coaches!
