Several Cal linebackers enter the transfer portal
A few more Golden Bears are looking for new spots.
Another day, another slog of Cal transfer news as the portal deadline came and went.
Ryan Puskas said his goodbyes this week.
Henry Ikahihifo decided to move on, staying close to home at San Jose State.
Kyle Smith also decided it was time to move on.
None of these are huge surprises. Ikahihifo and Puskas registered single digit tackles this season despite playing in most of the games this season. Smith has never been able to find a place in the rotation.
Calās linebacker rotation does grow a bit thinner. Femi Oladejo (onto UCLA) and Trey Paster (still deciding) have already departed. So has Patrick Hisatake (heading to Hawaii).
The good news is Cal has landed two nice transfers in Sergio Allen from Clemson and David Reese (edge, but could play LB) from Florida to stem the bleeding. And of course the return of Jackson Sirmon is a critical bolster. The Bears do have plenty of returning linebacking talent like Mo Iosefa, Myles Jernigan, Xavier Carlton, Blake Antzoulatos, and Nate Rutchena.
Best of luck to all of these Bears moving forward.
