Cal lands its first 2024 running back commit in Jamaal Wiley
The Bears are getting the running back depth they need for the future.
In a matter of days, Cal running back coach Aristotle Thompson has landed two commits. He managed to land the commitment of 2025 prospect Carter Jackson on Friday. Now Jamaal Wiley from Texas has made the call to be a Bear!
Wiley holds offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, and TCU. He also has offers from North Texas and Texas State, so you can imagine the entire new Cal offensive staff has been watching Wiley for quite some time.
Here’s Wiley’s video highlights via Hudl (full tape available here). You can see that he fits the more spread schemes and systems that fits the new offensive staff’s philosophy.
It’s been quite an offseason for Thompson, who has landed three running back commits in the portal (Byron Cardwell, Justin Williams-Thomas, and King Doerue), two running back commits for 2025 (Jackson and Jojo Solis), and now has his first running back for 2024 in Wiley. Thompson has proven to be one of Cal’s most adept recruiters on the trail, and has given the Bears backfield their greatest injection of talent in over a decade.
Welcome to Cal Jamaal! Go Bears!
Jamal looks more like a 4* than a 3*. Big potential
Great work! Still a lot of time before 2024 (and especially 2025) but Aristotle has been active. Hope Jamaal has an excellent senior year and remains committed to us.
