Cal lands the commitment of New Mexico State WR Jonathan Brady
The California Golden Bears have three new wide receivers via the 2024 transfer portal
The California Golden Bears have stocked up on wideouts this portal season, and got another huge commitment from Jonathan Brady out of New Mexico State.
As a freshman at New Mexico State, Brady started 9 of 13 games in 2022. He finished second on the team in receiving with 23 catches for 310 yards and 3 TDs and fielded kick returns. He also rushed for 101 yards. As a sophomore, he caught 38 catches for 624 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, as New Mexico State won 10 games and upset Auburn in Auburn.
Brady overlapped with Jaydn Ott at Bishop Gorman High, and Ott was one of the first to reach out to his former teammate this offseason. The hustle all paid off.
Cal now has three starting caliber wideouts via the portal, as Brady joins Notre Dame transfer Tobias Merriweather and Utah transfer Mikey Matthews. Cal looked for speed and YAC in the portal, and all three wideouts fit the bill.
Welcome to Cal Jonathan! Go Bears!
I really don’t think we can overstate how much Ott appears to be a generational talent who genuinely seems to love our program. That guy could undoubtedly play at any school, and the fact that he stays with us really reminds me of the way college sports used to feel. I hope he knows just how much us fans appreciate him. It’s one thing to be an amazing baller, it’s another thing to really build a team.
Jaydn doing everything for us these days. May Oski bless this man.
