Cal offensive tackles Ender Aguilar and Martin Tine to transfer
More movement on the offensive line for the California Golden Bears.
As Cal gains an offensive lineman, they also end up losing two.
On Tuesday, Cal offensive tackle Ender Aguilar announced he would be entering the transfer portal. Aguilar appeared in four games in 2022, including two starts against USC and Oregon State.
On Wednesday, Cal offensive tackle Martin Tine put his name into the portal as well. After Tine joined Cal last season, he unfortunately did not see significant action in the 2023 season.
Barrett Miller and TJ Session locked down starting roles at offensive tackle in 2023, and with the transfer in of Victor Stoffel and emergence of Nick Morrow, Aguilar and Tine would’ve had uphill battles to win a starting spot, so he will likely find a place he can have a better chance of starting.
Earlier this week, Cal landed the commitment of Barrett Miller’s younger brother, Braden Miller from Michigan State in the transfer portal. Miller is likely to take Aguilar’s spot in the offensive tackle position, with the chance to compete for a starting role. You’d expect Cal would continue the search to find another offensive lineman to maintain depth balance in the roster.
Best of luck to Ender and Martin, and congrats to Ender on earning your Cal degree!
Never like losing OL depth but I understand transferring somewhere for more playing time.
Passed up by Nick Morrow, Stoffel coming back from injury, TJ Session locked in at one position; sucks for injury depth but barring that they weren't going to play.
