Jaylon Tyson declares for the NBA Draft
The California Golden Bears star departs for the league, meaning a full reboot is coming in Berkeley for Mark Madsen.
As expected, Jaylon Tyson is turning pro. After an outstanding junior season, the Cal wing has officially declared for the NBA draft.
"I am going to forgo my remaining eligibility and enter the draft," Tyson said. "I am in Las Vegas getting ready right now."
Tyson has been projected as a low first round, high second round pick by most NBA draft scouts. ESPN has him ranked 32nd among the top NBA draft prospects. It was expected Tyson would take the leap.
"NBA teams saw that I'm a versatile guard," Tyson said. "I can play a lot of different positions on the court. I can be a '3-and-D' player or a secondary ball handler. I even showed I can play point guard in spurts down the line."
Cal is now officially doing the full reboot, as the Bears will be losing ten of their top rotation players to eligibility, transfer or the NBA Draft. It’s a new day in Bear Territory, but Mark Madsen seems ready to hit the ground running.
As we mentioned earlier today, this is not the end of the world. This is a new reality we all should be prepared for.
If you’re a Cal fan and want to see a brand new Bears team next year that’s ready to compete, donate to the Cal Legends Collective NIL (or ask someone with the means to do so).
Best of luck to Tyson at the next level!
Though year before Madsen came, the team only won 3 games….. last season it was a miraculous turn around with so many wins and so many games lost by only a basket. It was so fun to see the Haas pavilion sold out a few times. And so exciting to hear the enthusiastic fans cheer so wholeheartedly so often.
With already over 1,000 players declaring for the portal…. There are so many to court.
Madsen can do no it again. Great times are coming.
Expected and earned, fun year.
