Cal DB Patrick McMorris drafted by the Miami Dolphins with the 198th pick
The California Golden Bears have another Taker in the League.
Patrick McMorris transferred to Cal to be part of a secondary that continues to put defensive backs in the NFL. He got his wish, as he will join the Miami Dolphins at the next level. McMorris got picked by Miami today in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and should help shore up a Dolphins secondary in need of depth.
This makes it SIX Golden Bear defensive backs drafted in the last five NFL Drafts.
2020: Ashtyn Davis, 68th pick in 3rd round by the Jets (now starting in the Meadowlands)
2020: Jaylinn Hawkins, 134th pick in 4th round by the Falcons (now with Patriots)
2021: Cam Bynum, 125th pick in 4th round for the Vikings (now starting in Minnesota)
2022: Elijah Hicks, 254th pick in the 7th round for the Bears (on the two-deep in Chicago)
2023: Daniel Scott, 158th pick in the 5th round for the Colts (currently on the 53-man roster in Indianapolis)
The Takers culture remains strong during the Justin Wilcox era at Cal, and it continues to extend into the NFL.
The California Golden Bears keep their five year streak of players being drafted in the NFL going. In the last 60 NFL Drafts, at least one California Golden Bear has been picked.
Congrats Patrick!
Congratulations to our Taker for taking his talents to the NFL!
In addition: Sirmon will be UDFA with the Jets, Cindric UDFA with Vikings. Monroe Young invited to 49ers mini-camp.
