New Cal football transfer: Arkansas wide receiver Dazmin James
The California Golden Bears will add another weapon into their wide receiving arsenal.
The California Golden Bears went into the transfer portal and added more speed and versatility to their arsenal. First they landed horizontal stretch threat and returner specialist Jacob de Jesus from UNLV. Now they added promising freshman wideout Dazmin James. James will enter as a redshirt sophomore with three years left to play.
While he did not log any counting stats during the regular season, James had an outstanding Liberty Bowl, with three catches for 137 yards and a 94 yard score to win offensive MVP honors (just like de Jesus at the LA Bowl). That performance caught the eyes of numerous coaching staffs, as Purdue, Oklahoma State, Utah and Mississippi State all inquired. But Cal eventually won out!
James now joins de Jesus, Jonathan Brady, Tobias Merriweather, Kyion Grayes, Jordan King and Mason Starling in a crowded spring battle. Trond Grizzell and Mavin Anderson could return as well (both walked on Senior Day but have eligibility should they choose to come back). This will be quite a heated battle.
Welcome to Cal Dazmin! Go Bears!
Have to give JW some credit. He's had so many momentum killers (COVID in 2020/2021), narrow losses (esp. in 2024) but he somehow manages to dust himself off and generate buzz again. Really hope he can get over the hump. He may not be the greatest head coach in the world, but dude is resilient.
Nice. Whoever plsys QB will have plenty of weapons. Both running and passing.
