Cal stacks up their running back room, adding Kadarius Calloway from Old Dominion
The California Golden Bears landed another huge portal running back.
Cal has been active in the running back portal the last few years, getting several major backs in 2023 (Isaiah Ifanse, Byron Cardwell, Justin Williams-Thomas). The Bears landed another one in Old Dominion standout Kadarius Calloway. Calloway was ranked as the 12th best running back in the portal by 247Sports and 118th overall.
Calloway originally committed to Alabama out of high school, but then decided on junior college, rushing for 462 yards and 2 touchdowns in 11 games as a sophomore at East Mississippi Community College (Hudl highlights). In FCS play, he rushed 623 yards on 88 carries and 5 touchdowns as a junior at Old Dominion this past season, catching eight passes for 48 yards and a touchdown.
His best performance last year came against Marshall, where he rushed for 236 yards and 3 touchdowns, with 214 yards coming on three carries.
Calloway will be entering a crowded running back rotation. Both Cardwell and Williams-Thomas return to provide depth for feature back Jaydn Ott. Ashton Stredick and up-and-comer Jaivian Thomas also figure to compete for time.
Cal will certainly have a top flight running back rotation in the ACC. Can they keep adding additional talent elsewhere to make 2024 a breakout season?
Welcome to Cal Kadarius! Go Bears!
