Cal defensive back Kaylin Moore enters transfer portal
The California Golden Bears lose a contributor from the 2023 defense.
The California Golden Bears have lost a potential defensive back contributor to the transfer portal. Kaylin Moore will be entering the transfer portal.
Moore came in from Colorado last season to vie for a starting secondary position. Moore had some nice moments in 2023, racking up 24 tackles and two pass breakups, but he had trouble cracking the starting lineup and was not likely to start this season. Lu-Magia Hearns III, Nohl Williams, Cam Sidney and Marcus Harris are the favorites at cornerback, and Matthew Littlejohn will likely take the bulk of nickel snaps. And there’s Ja’ir Smith and Isaiah Crosby waiting in the wings to take a spot if possible.
It is likely that after the success of the new transfers in camp this spring, plus the recruitment and eventual commitment of Jasiah Wagoner as well as Ryan Yaites, Moore felt like it was better for him to pursue other options.
Best of luck to Kaylin!
Business decision. I can respect it and appreciate his time with us.
Cornerback room is deep and he would have been lost deep on the bench. This is his only chance to play is to go to a lower level school where he can start.
