Transfer PG Myron Amey Jr. to decide Saturday between Cal, Butler, Creighton, LMU
Could the California Golden Bears finally get their first point guard of this class?
Cal is definitely prioritizing point guards in their transfer portal recruiting efforts. With one big in the door in Lee Dort, a long forward in BJ Omot, and a top JUCO wing in Jeff Nwankwo, the Bears need ball-handlers who can get those players the ball. While Jeremiah Wilkinson could be that focal point, I’m sure Cal would love to provide him that help
Justin Pippen is one such player who could announce for Cal today, although the current buzz centers around Michigan. Another such player is San Jose State transfer point Myron Amey Jr., who is reportedly making a decision tomorrow. Three other schools are in contention: The Butler Bulldogs, the Creighton Bluejays, and the Loyola Marymount Lions.
From our previous post on Amey Jr:
Amey averaged 15.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.6 steals for the Spartans. Another complete guard with ball-hawking skills, Amey Jr. could boost up Cal’s defensive profile yet another level.
Hopefully good news is on the horizon on the point guard front!
Can never have too many ball hawking guards!
