Four-star OL Justin Hasenhuetl picks Cal at the Navy All-American Bowl
The California Golden Bears continue to overhaul their team with critical ooffensive line talent this offseason.
The California Golden Bears realized offensive line was a major issue this season, so they prioritized it in 2025 recruiting and in the transfer portal.
Another huge piece of the puzzle was Justin Hasenhuetl, a German offenisve lineman from Rabun Gap (Ga.) Nachoochee School. He ended up picking the Cal hat over North Carolina and Arkansas at Saturday’s Navy All-American Bowl.
Hasenhuetl grades out as the 20th best interior offensive lineman and the 48th best prospect in the state of Georgia by 247Sports Composite.
He described his reasons for committing to Adam Gorney of Rivals.
"It was both academically and athletically. Football is not forever. You always need a second plan and Cal is just beautiful out there. When we flew out there for my first official visit, Georgia Tech wouldn’t let me take one, so I was looking for a new home. Cal was right there.
"They started texting me and it was just a perfect fit. Their offensive coordinator got fired but everything else, all their staff, they have some amazing people. My mom came over and she loved it, my little brother loved it and it was just an amazing time.
"When I got there the first two days it was raining so I didn’t see much of the city but is an extra factor that added up. So many people know San Francisco and it’s just a great place to be."
Scouting report via Justin Brooks of 247Sports:
Strength-oriented IOL prospect who's originally from Germany. Classic mauler in his guard role, which is where the long-term projection stands as well. Most comfortable opening run-game alleys or climbing as a second-level bully, but adequate in pass pro. Sometimes plays narrow in pass set and can get unbalanced as a leaner. Plays hard and looks for extra work. Needs to work on more consistent extension to maximize punch frequency/effectiveness, but flashes some pop in his hands at the point of attack and at the second level. Missed second half of junior season with a knee injury. Quality higher-floor IOL who could become a multi-year P4 starter.
Here is Justin’s senior year tape (more highlights available at Hudl).
For those counting, here is what Cal’s incoming offensive linemen look like:

Welcome to Cal Justin! Go Bears!
Auf geht's, Bären!
Also great that he's into the academics and, contrary to the copious haters, sees San Francisco in a positive light.
Great news - build the line!
