Cal transfer cornerback Jaden Mickey flips to Boise State
Cal will likely need to find at least another cornerback in the spring transfer window.
Tough blow for the Bears in the transfer portal, as Cal lost former Notre Dame cornerback Jaden Mickey to Boise State. According to Greg Biggins, Mickey recently asked for and was granted a release from the Bears and signed with the Broncos.
That leaves Hezekiah Masses from Florida International as Cal's lone transfer portal cornerback. Cal also did sign Washington safety Tristan Dunn and Montana State safety Dru Polidore.
Gone from the 2024 roster at corner are Nohl Williams, Marcus Harris, Matthew Littlejohn, Lu-Magia Hearns III, and Collin Gamble. Back are Ja'ir Smith, Cam Sidney, Jasiah Wagoner, Marcus Scott II, and Khamani Hudson. This team lost a lot of experience and talent at cornerback. It’ll be quite some work to maintain the same level of play we saw here in 2025.
It’s likely Cal will need to explore more cornerback in the spring transfer period to bolster their depth. Tough work lies ahead for both secondary coaches Terrence Brown and Allen Brown.
Even when the transfer portal is closed, we have to be ready to lose players
Amazes me how a smaller Boise State with less money frequently out preforms Cal football amd other bigger colleges.
It exemplifies Cal and other schools terrible management.
