Cal lands a local junior college QB in Dominic Ingrassia from San Mateo
The California Golden Bears will now add another quarterback to their spring battles.
It has been an eventful week of news for the California Golden Bears in the quarterback room.
Top prospect Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, after initially being committed to Cal, then signing with Oregon on National Signing Day, ended up transferring, then decided that Cal was the place for him.
Chandler Rogers entered the transfer portal with additional eligibility provided from an NCAA ruling.
Cal then landed another quarterback in the transfer portal via the junior cllege rankings this week in Dominic Ingrassia from College of San Mateo.
Ingrassia is a local prospect who started out from San Marin High, which is where Cal offensive analyst Nick Rolovich started his coaching career two-plus decades ago. San Marin High is located in Novato, which is also the homeplace of Jared Goff (who attended Marin Catholic). Ingrassia played in 10 games in his freshman campaign, completed 59% of his passes for 1590 yards, with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions. Here are his highlights from Hudl.
Ingrassia played his one year of JUCO ball at College of San Mateo, where Cal alum Ben Hawk Schrider and Sione Sina both coach as assistants. Cal has already landed San Mateo prospects in edge Odera Okaka this year and defensive back Ja'ir Smith last year.
With Sagapolutele and Ingrassia in the quarterback room, it would lead to a fairly open competition this spring with CJ Harris and EJ Caminong with no clear favorite. You’d expect for Cal to continue to look for at least one more option in the transfer portal to keep the battle as open as possible, as the Bears look for the next in line after Fernando Mendoza.
Welcome to Cal Dominic! Go Bears!
What about Beck. He just entered the portal
Welcome DomiNando Ingrassia !
