Multiple Cal Football Linebackers Enter Transfer Portal: Ryan McCulloch to UCLA
The Golden Bears have seen a significant group of departures.
Cal linebackers Cade Uluave and Luke Ferrelli have already shown interest in exploring other options. While we’d guess the Golden Bears will try to do their best to bring them back, there will be work for Tosh Lupoi and staff to do.
Linebacker Harrison Taggart (transferred from BYU) logged 38 tackles and 2 TFLs last season. He rotated in and out of the starting lineup, and is likely looking for a place where he can play more regularly.
Edge Ryan McCulloch was poised for a breakout year before injury derailed his season. McCulloch logged 39 tackles and five sacks in three seasons at Cal.
UPDATE: McCulloch was quick to find a new home, following his position coach Vic So’oto to UCLA.
Linebacker Eze Osondu logged six tackles this season.
True freshman defensive lineman Ike Okafor also entered. He did not see playing time.
Also, true freshman defensive back Kaden Cook is exploring his options.
Cal will have significant work to rebuild and retain their front seven. It should be an intriguing few weeks ahead.

Maybe we should just list the players who aren’t in the portal to save Internet space
Wow! This is scary. Our front 7 are all portaging out. They were the best part of our defense. Oh well. The NIL and portal are ruining college major sports. There is little loyalty and team identity left.
