Cal Football Sees Multiple Offensive Transfer Portal Entries
The California Golden Bears will see some depth losses.
Everyone is looking for a new opportunity to see the field in college football next season. Here are some of the new departures in 2026.
Quarterback Belay Brummel
Brummel has one of the more heartwarming stories, accelerating to complete as many academic credits as possible to get his Berkeley degree in record time. You can read his story down below in the second tweet.
With both Devin Brown and EJ Caminong in the transfer portal. 2026 QB commit Nainoa Lopes and JUCO transfer Dominic Ingrassia are now the primary QB2/QB3. The Bears will likely look to the portal for more depth.
Wide receiver Dazmin James
James had an impressive offseason workout regimen, but he ended up never breaking into a wide-open rotation that was constantly rotating new talent. James will look for a new home in 2026.
Offensive lineman LaJuan Owens
Owens came over from New Mexico, but had trouble cracking the rotation and will look for a spot to play elsewhere.
Offensive lineman Daveion Harley
Harley also came from Jacksonville State, but did not see the field. Harley and Owens are the third and fourth offensive linemen to enter the portal, joining Nick Morrow and Leon Bell. Itâs safe to say Cal will look to find new offensive line talents upfront at this position.
Current transfers
K Abram Murray
P Michael Kern
LB Buom Jock

Graduating Cal in 2.5 years (Brummel) or 3 (Nando) is so impressive. I needed 2 summer classes to make it in 4. And my intramural basketball team may have required somewhat less time commitment than their athletic endeavors.
I very rarely get sad or upset with transfers after graduation because they're valuing that Berkeley degree and will be repping it on their resume for the rest of their lives.
