Cal lands a wide receiver in Wisconsin transfer Mark Hamper
The Golden Bears continue to rebuild their wide receiver corps.
The California Golden Bears have a solid potential starting replacement wide receiver via the transfer portal, as they landed the commitment of Mark Hamper via Wisconsin, via Idaho. Hamper is considered one of the best wide receivers left in the transfer portal. Hayes Fawcett of On3 was first to report.
Hamper, a standout high school star from West Linn, Oregon, ended up at Idaho after college. After redshirting in 2023, he exploded in 2024 with 49 catches for 961 yards and six touchdowns. At 6'2", 210 pounds, he’s physical, quick, and dangerous on screens. After a brief stop at Wisconsin, Hamper re-entered the portal. Following visits to Cal, Arizona State, and New Mexico, he committed to the Bears on Wednesday.
For those counting, here is who Cal has lost:
Tobias Merriweather
Here is who Cal has gained besides Hamper via the portal:
Cal could probably use another wide receiver in the portal to stem these losses, but there has been a decent amount of rebuilding here to have a solid core group to work with this fall.
Welcome to Cal Mark! Go Bears!
Another kid I like. High 3 star with an 89 transfer score. Has a nose for the end zone.
I love a solid replacement.
